We are all Soft Shapes

About this work

Soft Shapes is all about P L A Y. We choose colors that are fun, clever, and exciting to create shapes that remind us of the sweet and simple pleasures. The good times. The vibrant moments that make us smile. We’re excited to have you here, looking at and thinking about these objects in your home, giving you a gentle little reminder that things aren’t all that bad. From pencil to piece, each object you see is toyed with and rearranged until the shapes ring just right.

Thanks for stopping by!

 About the Designer

Kelsie McNair started playing with stained glass in 2016 after a six-month residency at the Chrysler Glass Studio in Norfolk, Virginia. Immediately fascinated by the sculptural elements of this art form and the weird, wonderful weight of glass in her hands, she picked up the process right away. Working in glass felt like being a 3-D painter, using the grandeur of sunlight and razor’s edge to bring each work to life; a dichotomy of soft and hard. Shapes were cut, ground, and arranged, awkward jewelry was assembled, and many other playful and strange experiments were tinkered with on the daily in those early months. It was the evolutionary lineage of this directionless play that would grow to become the work you see today. Consistently inspired by light, texture, and movement, processes old and unfamiliar, Kelsie hopes to keep pushing herself towards new and fresh glass objects to bring joy not only to herself, but to anyone passing though, looking for something special to add to their collection.
